jankap Posted December 22, 2014 Share #21 Posted December 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) A little bit worn? This lens was made 30 years ago! The glass seems to be ok and that is the most important part. Jan
Advertisement Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Hi jankap, Take a look here leitz wetzlar summilux R 80mm f1.4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a911s Posted December 23, 2014 Share #22 Posted December 23, 2014 The 80 f1.4 is one of the best Leica R lenses made. It is sharp at 1.4 but only in the very center. Stop it down to f2 and it is a remarkable portrait lens. For stills or video, it is the lens at the 80-100 focal length to have. Natural skin tones, super smooth bokeh. I'll never sell mine.
jcraf Posted December 24, 2014 Share #23 Posted December 24, 2014 by the way do you have any link to see sample images from taken this lens ? R 80 1.4 ROM, both taken on an M240. A real landmark Leica lens, although I no longer have mine, relying on my 75 Summilux instead. Welcome, dear visitor! How frustrating. Import taxes are a real trap and in some cases can turn an apparent bargain into an unaffordable purchase. I hope you find another one, in Turkey perhaps.

alan.y Posted December 26, 2014 Share #28 Posted December 26, 2014 I recently purchased a backup copy of the 80 for about USD 850, which is quite a bargain. Aside from some very minor optical blemishes, the filter thread is bent and doesn't take filters (this wasn't disclosed to me by the seller). gvaliquette Posted July 26, 2015 Share #31 Posted July 26, 2015 ... but nevertheless the lens on the picture looks a little bit worn. The glass seems to be pristine. Who cares about the focusing ring esthetics! Guy

sc_rufctr Posted August 5, 2015 Share #33 Posted August 5, 2015 Thanks Jip. Nice shot as always. I need to get mine out more
sc_rufctr Posted August 5, 2015 Share #34 Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) The glass seems to be pristine. Who cares about the focusing ring esthetics! Guy The focus ring is rubber. That one shown would benefit from some Plastic/Rubber dressing. (Armor All or similar) Not sure about the metal parts but if the glass is clean that's good. a911s Posted August 10, 2015 Share #35 Posted August 10, 2015 After twenty years of use the rubber focusing ring will stretch to the point it falls off. I replaced mine with a thicker piece of rubber provided by a forum member.

Locutus Posted August 25, 2015 Share #37 Posted August 25, 2015 You flare my desire to get a 80 Lux again! Just got a late ROM 50 Cron , so it will have to wait again. Maybe in December :-)
cpclee Posted October 28, 2015 Share #38 Posted October 28, 2015 Possibly my all time favorite lens. My copy was soft from wide open to 2.0, 2.8 was very good, and 4.0 and above was a monster
gpwhite Posted October 28, 2015 Share #39 Posted October 28, 2015 80 is lovely, but what about the last Summilux-R 50mm version? Crisper on axis, saturated and more freedom in close focusing. Mine was on Velvia, but maybe someone has compared it on digital?
sc_rufctr Posted October 29, 2015 Share #40 Posted October 29, 2015 The 50 is brilliant but commands a premium for a clean one. Meanwhile with the release of the SL our lenses will only going one way in value IMO. I'm not sure that's a good thing
