Ollux hood for 35mm Summilux Steel Rim

Dear all,

 

I've been searching for a "rationally priced" OLLUX hood for my 35mm summilux v1 lens.

 

I chanced upon a thread on HKLFC, which sells custom made OLLUX lens at a reduced price (~450USD). Kudos to the seller for finding a way to make it.

 

However, in an Ebay auction, I was offered a second chance offer on an OLLUX at a good price. However, I examined it closely, and found that it might not be the original OLLUX but the custom made. I'll appreciate if the seller had make it clear, but benefit of the doubt, he might not know.

 

I found the difference after studying the photos closely, and found two ways we can identify the original OLLUX to the custom made.

 

1) The custom made OLLUX hood has a shiny finish, compared to the matte finish on the original.

2) A key difference is the custom made OLLUX hood has "OLLUX 1:14/35" , missing the ".", compared to the original "OLLUX 1:1.4/35".

 

Just wanna share the info, as the hood is a real pricy item, and I would not want potential buyers to be cheated.

THanks for the reminder. Just start to seek for an Ollux and noted this information. The Ollux still quite expensive these days. Better to be more careful~
