I like to use the wiki alot, finding more information there than in the German wiki.

Because I am not an admin I am not capable to write there and want to give you the following information:

I own Leica Ig (OCEGO) with Nr. 926 322. Normal version. Must be an batch which is not in the wiki.

515 469 is a 3c (batch is noted in 3f instead of 3c)

762 932 is 3f VLW red dial (batch is not in place)

I agree that Wiki Leica Ig serial numbers has discrepancies, for example, the batch beginning with 924501 is listed twice, 924589 is apparently missing, and the totals, if they were correct, would be 6,368 from the batches noted by year, not 6,364. Your specific Leica Ig (OCEGO) with Nr. 926322 is listed in the range between 926201 and 926700 (1958).

The Leica Wiki web pages Serial Numbers Leica Cameras and Leica IIIc Serial Numbers, correctly list SN 515469 as a IIIc, but the web pages Serial Numbers Leica Cameras and Leica IIf Serial Numbers, as well as Leica Pocket Book 6th Edition (c. 1994), list SN 762932 as a IIf (R1, 1955), not IIIf.

For comparison, Leica Pocket Book 6th Edition (c.1994, p. 135) lists the serial number ranges for Leica Ig as follows (batch totals are not provided):

SN Start SN End Product Year

887001 888000 Leica Ig 1957

907001 910000 Leica Ig 1957

924501 924568 Leica Ig 1958

924569 924588 Leica Ig 1958

924589 926000 Leica Ig 1958

926201 926700 Leica Ig 1958

987301 987600 Leica Ig 1960

Leica Wiki (English) is a fantastic reference tool, and I'm sure you're on the right track by advising Administration of suggested edits.

Thank you for your answer.

I did not look correctly, as for the Ig the numbers are in an inconvenient order...

Thanks for keeping us honest, zteil & wmcl

I've revised the Ig numbers to conform to your suggestions, of course including the 34+34=72 Siemen Ig's pointed out to us by friend Pecole in 2010 (see Fontenelle archive for discussion) bringing us to a Ig total of 6,368 (up 4, keeping in mind ASSIGNED serial numbers are often greater than actual cameras made).

Now to tackle your If /IIIc comments . . . this is how we keep busy while waiting for Photokina to drop smile.gif
