Whilst at the Rutland Birdfair 2014 last Sunday 17 August I enquired with the Leica Client Care Manager on the Leica Stand about adjusting the diopter correction on my Leica C (Type 112) camera. She examined the camera, confirmed the diopter correction needed adjustment (it had no 'sweet spot' and would not focus) and suggested I send it to Leica Mayfair where, " … we can now service Leica compact cameras … including all X series and D series … and including sensor cleans."

 

On Monday 18 August I posted the camera to Leica Mayfair; yesterday, Tuesday 19 August I received this Email message:

 

Dear Duncan,

 

Just to let you know we have received your Leica C. It was a quick fix by our technician and is on its way to you now. Hopefully if UPS pick up tonight, you will receive the camera first thing tomorrow. Please let me know if you are happy with the Leica C and if there is anything else I can help you with.

 

Kind Regards,

This morning I received the camera with functioning diopter correction - repaired under warranty.

 

The camera was returned within 48 hours of posting it to Leica Mayfair.

 

Thank you very much - your exemplary customer service is very much appreciated.

What was the exact problem with the diopter correction? I have received D-Lux 109 and it is seemed that I having a sort of issue as well. Having adjusted with all 10 levels of the diopter correction I could not get a clear image and settings such as aperture and shutter speed shown on the EVF is not clear.

Ref diopter correction on my Leica C: The diopter correction adjustment wheel would not turn sufficiently far to accommodate my short sight … likely a manufacturing assembly anomaly. After adjustment by Leica Mayfair in 2014, which likely included dismantling and reassembly, the diopter adjustment is fine. I'm not familiar with the Leica Q but diopter correction 'adjustment' should likely be a fairly straightforward procedure. If you're in London, Leica Mayfair can probably help you because they service all Leica compact cameras.
