TheGodParticle/Hari Posted November 30, 2015 Author Share #403 Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) Flying to India in two days, totally excited to put the new Monochrom to use. Paired with this only-one-of-it's-kind-in-the-world "Red Paint" APO Summicron 50/2. Sweet birthday gift by Leica! TheGodParticle/Hari Posted December 1, 2015 Author Share #406 Posted December 1, 2015 Enjoy your trip, TGP. The Monochrome / Apo 50 combo are a match made in Nirvana. Thank you EoinC! Unfortunately I'm not able to find my E39 ND filters :/ Hopefully I can grab some good quality ones locally - would suck with the ISO320 minimum limit and the 1/4000 maximum shutter speed! Most likely, the m240 is staying at home and the Q is coming along [emoji33]

Please explain and why did they paint that one red? Danke thebarnman! It was my birthday wish to replace the feet scale in yellow color with red paint and the ever friendly and accommodating staff obliged. This officially is the only one of its kind, repainted by Leica. Takes the same pictures but this added a touch of uniqueness and reminds me of the gracious gesture by Leica everytime I use the lens. Apologies for the crappy shot, took it with the phone

Most likely, the m240 is staying at home and the Q is coming along [emoji33] I live in Singapore, and can usually get by with an orange filter (for contrast, not for exposure control) on the M246 / Apo 50. This lens is still very nice stopped down. I'm heading over to the Congo with it this weekend. I hope I get an opportunity to try it in India. It's good to see that you're excited about your trip. Not many more sleeps... Edited December 2, 2015 by EoinC

Jared Posted December 13, 2015 Share #416 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) OK, I'll share a few snaps taken with my new-to-me 50mm APO Summicron. First a couple with really challenging lighting. This picture of the Oakland, California docks was taken last night from Jack London Square. ISO 1600, f/2, 1/30 of a second hand held. This was several hours after dark on an overcast evening, so the only lighting was from the docks and boats themselves. Minimal post processing in Lightroom--exposure and highlights adjusted slightly, and some light noise reduction applied. Oh, one other thing I did was flatten the field using Adobe's 'DNG Flat Field' plugin. The 50 APO has a fair amount of vignetting wide open--more than a stop--so I applied a flat field frame to lighten up the corners. - Jared Edited December 13, 2015 by Jared

Jared Posted December 13, 2015 Share #420 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) That last one was on the Leica M (240) with 1/180s exposure at ISO 200 with the lens set to f/2.8. I used off camera lighting with a wireless release and manual exposure control on the flashes. - Jared Edited December 13, 2015 by Jared
