Advertisement Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Hi stump4545, Take a look here New softer leather skin for Monochrom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Herr Barnack Posted April 1, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2014 I would suggest black suede leather; it would be softer and give you a more grippy surface. I have never heard of anyone having an M recovered in suede, though. With a digital M, shedding of small particles of suede that could end up on the sensor could be a concern - but a high quality suede would probably cirvumvent that issue. BerndReini Posted April 2, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 2, 2014 Jaap mentioned Cameraleather. I ordered a cover from them in December of last year and paid via Paypal. I have neither received my order nor have I received any status update even though I sent an Email about a month ago. Seriously, what is going on with this company? pfhrased Posted April 2, 2014 Share #11 Posted April 2, 2014 does anyone here have a M9 or MM with a different leather skin? I had my M9 recovered with the structured "ostrich" leather that Leica offers for MP a la carte. It's a heck of a lot more pleasant to grip than the vulcanite was - doesn't slip at all. Downside is it's more fragile. Pays to get some shoe polish that's a close match!

I do not keep stuff like that in my computer.

wlaidlaw Posted April 3, 2014 Share #17 Posted April 3, 2014 Cameraleather has a wide choice. There has been some muttering on various forums about Cameraleather having ceased operations. I suspect it is just Morgan at his chaotic worst, however. I am sure he could double his business if he got a part time secretary, who ran the business, email, posting side for him and left him to making the dies and cutting the leather, which he does very well. Leica themselves will recover cameras. I had Cameraleather dark slate blue kid on my M9, when the sensor failed. Leica recovered the camera FOC in Jaguar British Racing Dark Green Nappa leather. Their blue colour is rather bright. The smooth and quite thick/soft Nappa leather is very nice but not quite as nice as the textured kid dark slate blue kid leather was. I don’t imagine the Leica à la carte service is cheap if unlike me, you have to pay for it. While my uncle had my M4, he had it recovered while he was seconded to Shell, Japan, as the original leatherette got damaged. It may have been these people http://aki-asahi.com/store/html/material-list/LeicaM_ColorMaterialList.html At least if you use them, I would guess your recovering material order would arrive this century. The covering on my M4 looks very similar to the original leatherette but is embossed real leather, quite similar to the Cameraleather Rollei Black Magic I have on my M8. I assume that the MM is an identical cover to the M9. Wilson

Jeff S Posted April 3, 2014 Share #20 Posted April 3, 2014 Oh, I’d have to look for them, they are in one of the many threads on the subject in this forum, also other previous iterations. I do not keep stuff like that in my computer. C'mon Jaap, this took 10 seconds to find using search (one of your much discussed 'earlier iterations'…you started a whole thread). Methinks you just want to forget. Jeff
