How about a thread full of trees?

In my opinion this is much too good of a thread / subject to be allowed to lie fallow.

Yellowstone National Park - changes deep below the surface of the roughly 46 mile-wide caldera are always creating new geysers and areas where steam, gasses, toxic minerals and scalding hot sulphuric water bubble to the surface of the constantly changing landscape - it's tough being a tree there. If the "Supervolcano" doesn't get you, a wildfire will

Since you guys appreciated the tree + squirrel combination I add here another shot:

That I've taken without metering or focusing, I barely noticed the profile and I shot by instinct, I'm surprised to see it came out decently.

That are secondary shoots, growing like the top of tree (re-iteration).

Still they freak me out, it looks like somebody sawed them off and surgically re-implanted them at 90 degrees.

These stumps are what remains of the double row of huge old pines that once formed an avenue, lining the long, curving driveway to my grandfather's house.

They were planted in about 1860 a few years before construction began on the house itself.

I remember them well from my childhood as being impressively large, dark and gloomy and that the west wind blowing through them sounded like the sea.

This shot was taken at a great place to speed a few hour with your camera if you are ever in Matlock Derbyshire, taken at a place called Lumsdale
