Wayne Posted November 11, 2015 Share #41 Posted November 11, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just from the standpoint of collector knowledge- and I will never fork over the kind of cash a IIg would bring: Given the nebulous circumstances of the IIg, what should a knowledgeable collector demand, as proof of authenticity, before purchasing such a camera? Do the very circumstances that make a IIg so valuable, also bring a certain degree of chance to any decision to purchase one? How could you ever be sure? Advertisement Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hi Wayne, Take a look here IIG. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted November 11, 2015 Share #42 Posted November 11, 2015 IIg is easy to make.... ...That's THE problem...
iphoenix Posted November 12, 2015 Author Share #43 Posted November 12, 2015 It's back yet again. Same price (A$94,500) but now with an Elmar 50/3.5. I just noticed that it is now being offered without the previously included winder, but with no reduction in price. David
willeica Posted November 12, 2015 Share #44 Posted November 12, 2015 I'm not sure that a winder would add or subtract much to the relative value of this 'model'. I don't see the Australian IIg 'offer' on eBay at this time but the German one is still there. It reached €6,950 on 7th November and then the bidding stopped. There is still one day to go. It will be interesting to see what it fetches when the auction closes tomorrow. As I said previously, the value of this item, genuine or not, is what the market determines it to be. willeica Posted November 13, 2015 Share #45 Posted November 13, 2015 The item sold for €6,950 this morning. This is considerably less than the €21,500 that a similar (different SN) item sold for at Photographica Auction (Rahn) last year. In both cases similar wording and reference to authorities was used to describe the item. By referring to authorities such as Lager, Van Hasbroeck and Netopil, sellers are probably trying to cover themselves as there is still no definitive proof on the matter. One thing is certain though. The market is placing a lower value on the 'model' than it did last year. Interestingly, there was no further bidding on eBay after the matter was mentioned on this forum. iphoenix Posted February 16, 2016 Author Share #46 Posted February 16, 2016 Oh Dear; it's back yet again on Ebay Aust. Same seller, same body, again a different lens (this time an Elmar 2.8/50). "BIN" price now A$38,000. David
willeica Posted February 16, 2016 Share #47 Posted February 16, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks like an f3.5 5cm, but the lens is irrelevant. The price is about four times the value a 'IIg' achieved the last time out. Caveat Emptor. William
TomB_tx Posted February 16, 2016 Share #48 Posted February 16, 2016 Yes, clearly a 3.5 Elmar. The 2.8 was introduced at the same time as the IIIg, so would have been appropriate.
