Two examples of photos taken in extreme conditions , showing you

what the film is able to do in terms of dynamics and sensitivity
one against day - contre-jour and one  twilight  (all details still visible

in shadows)

Shoot the same thing with your digital cam and thanks to post here

for comparison !

I don't like digital but this can be done with the A7

underexposed

and with slight adjustment

Gary , sincerily it's good for you to use photo software for correction , specialy in digital

With digital it's unavoidable . You can not do otherwise from DNG-RAW not Jpeg  !

.... but on the second photo, the colors have changed with correction, less deep ,less vivid

less natural like in your first original picture

Thanks for your demonstration Gary

It is for this reason that I no longer want to put my money in cameras that do not meet criteria such as film

Do not take it badly what I said :)  As I said in almost all my posts, the sensor is not yet developed , not

satisfying , all camera brands combined ... and in addition, the camera quickly becomes obsolete

(average duration 3-4 years)

Best regards

Henry

Kodak Portra 160 Isos (only with 160 Isos not pushed)

Leica M7 - 35 Summilux Asph open at  f/1.4

Scan in Nikon Coolscan 5000 in Tiff (RGB calibrated in factory)

+ Nikonscan Software

directly posted in Jpeg with no correction, a less dark may be for you

..... but I am in almost dark condition when I took this picture

I like natural condition with no distorsion, nor addition :)

It is the place of prayer of the Cistercian monks.I was in this abbey for 3 days
not to pray , but to rest , listening and questioning  myself  !
There were 7 monks around me
!

continuation for Garygs

The ceiling has a small opening in the prayer room , with a stained glass window , color light green
If I correct to clarify the foreground of the ceiling, this color will disappear :)

Light condition a little better than in the picture posted above

Kodak Portra 160-Leica M7-35 Summilux Asph open at f/1.4

You're getting to be very good at these shots, Wayne. I like them a lot.

The hopscotch has me intrigued - You appear to have a different layout in the New World.

If the footpath in front of my parents' house in the 1960's serves me right, Godzone Country determined the orthodox structure to be:

[7][8]

[6]

[4][5]

[3]

[2]

[1]

As you can see, this covers 20% more furlongs.

I agree with your recollection.  I am not sure the reason for the modified version. Maybe it has something to do with falling off of a cliff if you topple. :)

Thanks for the compliment.

Best,

Wayne

Senanque Abbey

Gordes France

Kodak TX400-Leica MP

Summilux 50 Asph

I have a M7 with Kodak Portra 160 and the MP with TX

No correction, it's easier in b&w when you use film like TX to have

a nice view of this window without any correction ! a good film for inside
