Nikon D800E + Adapter+Short focus mount + Leitz Tele-Elmar 135/4 lens head, made in 1965. ISO=320, 1/1000 s, f/8.

The TE 135/4 lens performance on the D800E is simply stunning IMHO.

Although the moiré pattern is easy to remove, I left it in so that one can see what's really in focus.

However, it is considerably stronger in the .NEF file. A simple conversion to JPG seems to weaken it already.

BTW, the really dark areas have not been underexposed and have not lost detail.

They are this dark/black and the D800E captured it. Impressive.

I think it's quite a dramatic improvement in image quality compared to http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/nature-wildlife/271853-white-breasted-nuthatch.html

That was shot with the Leitz Telyt 1:5.6/560 but from a much larger distance.
