TomB_tx Posted August 31, 2012 Share #1 Posted August 31, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) People have asked about a cap for the 12504 hood on a 35mm Summicron or Summilux. I've found that a generic 58mm snap-in hood fits the 12504 very well, and lets you cap the hood while in place on the lens, instead of trying to fit a 39mm snap-in cap on the lens itself. Because the hood is "vented" you also can tell the hood is in place while looking through the viewfinder, as it blocks the view through the "vents." A good $5 solution! TomB_tx Posted September 1, 2012 Author Share #2 Posted September 1, 2012 By the way, a similar 52mm cap fits the 12585 hood for 50mm.
stephengv Posted May 23, 2018 Share #3 Posted May 23, 2018 Aside from the 58mm lens cap, are there other caps available?
Ecar Posted May 23, 2018 Share #4 Posted May 23, 2018 A 49mm snap-in cap sort of works if you attach it to the 'middle' rim of the hood, but it's not as tight. I have also found the 58mm cap to be the best solution.
lct Posted May 23, 2018 Share #5 Posted May 23, 2018 Aside from the 58mm lens cap, are there other caps available? Fujifilm ø39 FLCP-39 I use it together with Leica vented hoods on Summilux 35/1.4 v2 and Summicron 35/2 asph v1 mainly. Fits also other ø39mm lenses. Easier to handle than the CV cap thanks to its larger and more protrusive clips. Welcome, dear visitor! a.noctilux Posted May 24, 2018 Share #6 Posted May 24, 2018 (edited) I have an impression of stephengv sitting on his ass, waiting for net-wisdom to make him happy. Good luck. Pico, Hitting by "ass", I had a look in my wife's Harraps Shorter Bordas (French-English) to discover that in this dictionary, no word for "bottom". But I do like some expressions, there: Ass's milk, To make an a. of oneself. Edited May 24, 2018 by a.noctilux
iphoenix Posted May 24, 2018 Share #7 Posted May 24, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) "Posterior" is an alternative, and, in polite company, preferred to "Ass".
sblutter Posted May 24, 2018 Share #8 Posted May 24, 2018 I don't like that solution b/c the lens is still exposed to debris through the vents - and... only some situations require a hood anyway. I like to keep my kit as compact as possible. I'm amused by amateurs walking around with monster lenses. shooting everything on Auto. They'd be better off using their phones & saving their necks, shoulders and money.
