Any photos with 28mm Summaron or Hektor?

Advertisement (gone after registration)

New collector here. Awaiting my "new to me" IIIf black dial. Would like to know if anyone has experience or photos to share using the 28mm f/5.6 Summaron or f/6.3 Hektor? I know these are difficult to find and not cheap, but would like to know if they are expensive because of a great lens to use or because they just didn't make as many. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum !!! Both are not so common lenses... at the times of its intro, Hektor was really a "superwide" and surely a challenging design (the contemporary Zeiss Tessar 28 for Contax had an aperture of f 8 ... 6,3 was a good achievement for Leitz... ).

Hektor is really an "oldie"... with an appreciable vignetting and softness in the whole field... a collector more than an user item, and the postwar version with the "new-international" f scale to f 22 is very rare.

 

The Summaron is a significant step up, and still an enjoyable lens : the first 2 examples I attach are scans of prints, taken with Summaron on a M4... the 3rd is taken with M8 (no UVIR filter, as revealed by the hue of the shirt at right... :o)

I have both. Here is a shot with the 6.3 on a Leica IIIA. Sorry about the poor quality.....Hand developed......One of my first.
