The peak at right (Schneebiger Nock - Monte Nevoso - Ahrntal - Italy) has been tragically quoted few days ago for a massive snowfall which took the lives of 6 people (http://www.snowpassion.it/news/valanga-con-6-morti-valle-aurina-sul-monte-nevoso/)

Amazing thread! Never knew about this one.

 

Here's a recent 4-photo panorama of Main Range, about an hour's drive from my house in South East Queensland. I felt like I was in Jurassic Park or something.

I find that a flat, boring & uneventful foreground can make even the highest mountain in a state, such as Boundary Peak, the tallest in Nevada at 13,146 feet, look quite ordinary.

 

From Highway 95 southbound near McDermott.

 

SL / 24-90 on Gitzo with BH55 ballhead and new RRS L-plate.

California's White Mountains in the distance, home of the 'Bristlecone National Forest' near Bishop, as viewed from the foot of Mt.Whitney the morning after a storm dumped a couple feet of fresh snow ............on the tenth of June !!
