ora sono loro che conquistano me".

Padum, Zanskar, 11,500 ft, 1981. A place that until the late 1970's had been isolated, accessed only via a five day trek on foot.

Due to increased activity on the borders of India from China and Pakistan, a road (track) was driven through opening at the end of the 1970s.

We were told we were the first to travel to Padum from Kargil on a motorcycle. Today there are organised adventure holidays and individuals traveling there on the ubiquitous Royal Enfield 'Bullet' motorcycle.
