xalo Posted September 9, 2011 Share #21 Posted September 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks, Andy. I bought some rolls last year from Negatifplus in Paris to compare with/replace K64, and had yet to notice that they don't carry it anymore... Advertisement Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Hi xalo, Take a look here This hurts - Fuji is taking more film from the market. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gyoung Posted September 9, 2011 Share #22 Posted September 9, 2011 Astia 135 has long gone from the European market. All my stock in the freezer is now way out of date and doesn't give the same result as fresh film. Pity, as it was my favourite colour film by a long way. I'd better use up my last three rolls then Gerry
rpsawin Posted September 10, 2011 Share #23 Posted September 10, 2011 It's especially tragic as the photo preceding the article shows a roll of Ektar 100....do you think Kodak knows Fuji is axing one of their emulsions? LOL Bob
pico Posted September 10, 2011 Share #24 Posted September 10, 2011 Not good.... If it is true.

Andy, I was disturbed to read this, as I thought that film in a freezer kept "fresh" for a very long time indeed. How long beyond the expiry date do you think you can store film in a freezer before it goes off?
Windowlicker Posted September 11, 2011 Share #26 Posted September 11, 2011 Less film options out there isn't too great but there are still tons of great films available! It'll be sad when there are only a few options for sale but currently there's still a decent selection.
Clearlight Posted September 13, 2011 Share #27 Posted September 13, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, I've been trying the Kodak slide emulsions recently and they are superb. For B&W, there's always Ilford, AGFAphoto, Efke, Adox, Rollei, Foma, Kentmere ...
ChiILX1 Posted September 13, 2011 Share #28 Posted September 13, 2011 Can't be true. Everyone knows that more and more people are switching to film. Actually- they are! Traditional camera film makes a come back - Telegraph

How long beyond the expiry date do you think you can store film in a freezer before it goes off? John Most of the Astia was bought just out of date for about £1 a roll, about 6 or 7 years ago. The colours are starting to drift, despite it bring kept at -19C since then. B&W film lasts much better, of course

Maybe I'll be OK then - my stuff was bought fresh, well within expiry date, and frozen immediately. It's only just coming up to its expiry date, so hopefully it's got a few years yet before it goes off!
too old to care Posted September 15, 2011 Share #31 Posted September 15, 2011 I dropped by our local camera store the other day to pick up some film and chemicals. The salesman told me that they will carry less Kodak products next year. Kodak sent them a letter telling them that they soon will make even less film and supplies. I asked him if they plan to stop carrying film altogether and he said no, that Basic Photography 101 in college still requires students to develop their own film so they will stock it.
