Hi

Smaller sensor -

- allows the camera to be smaller or less shoe horned

- allows more depth of field for the same print size

the micro lenses allow the lens to be more conformal with the body, - smaller easier to pocket camera.

It is quite expensive for what you get, not tempted myself.

Hi

That is all the released information I have from Ricoh, the review sites will do their best when the production kit is available.

e.g. we dont know if it has microlenses like the X100, M8 or M9? Or what the low light performance of the CMOS sensor is...

Watch this space...

Just to add a little bit of fuel to the fire ...

Last Sept. Sony announced a new FF HAD CCD-II image sensor with 34.8 effective pixels. This sensor is now linked to the new Alpha Studio camera expected next year. No anti-aliasing filter, electronic shutter with a high flash sync, and a new anti-blooming structure. Much higher sensitivity due to an increased per pixel aperture size that increases the light focused on the photodiode, in part thanks to newly designed microlens (with improved form and height) ... plus a new color filter design that reduces color noise.

This isn't the new sensor that will be in the 32 meg Sony a920 due in a few months.

CCDs are still being developed for high end applications.

It'd be nice if Leica could work with Sony for the sensors.
