stuny Posted January 7, 2017 Share #4568 Posted January 7, 2017 The Niagara, just up stream of the falls?
a.j.z Posted January 7, 2017 Share #4569 Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) Yes Stuart, you turn! The picture was taken from the top of a hotel on the US side, the big building on the other side is the Sheraton in Canada, just slightly right of the picture, where you see the strong lights is the Rainbow Bridge to Canada. stuny Posted January 8, 2017 Share #4570 Posted January 8, 2017 The current lights at the falls, installed in 2016, are high powered LEDs. In the 1970s my father designed the prior lighting, which replaced the original carbon arc lamps on the Queen Victoria Building with 23 10,000 watt xenon lamps, plus another up river backlighting the plume, and one in the gorge shooting up at the plume. There was also a Klieg spotlight. Each of the xenon lamps was brighter than all 16 of the old carbon arc lamps combined. Here's the new one: Welcome, dear visitor! Michael Geschlecht Posted January 10, 2017 Share #4571 Posted January 10, 2017 Hello Stuart, Is this place anywhere near a large bridge? Best Regards, Michael
stuny Posted January 10, 2017 Share #4572 Posted January 10, 2017 There are sizable bridges in this city but I think that's not very significant. If necessary I'll add another view tomorrow evening.

stuny Posted January 12, 2017 Share #4575 Posted January 12, 2017 On a cosmic scale it's abutting NYC, but on a planetary scale it's on a different continent.

stuny Posted January 14, 2017 Share #4579 Posted January 14, 2017 Well, we've determined that it is far west of New York City, and flying there directly from NY one goes the polar route.
