I should have come back to this earlier, while it is apparent a.j.z knows exactly where this is, can anyone name any of the features in the image? One is rather well known.

The classical column is inspired by Wren's columns on St. Pauls. This is Paternoster Square a cartoon like assembly of buildings inspired by Post Modernism clearly at war with St. Paul's. (Couldn't resist some architectural criticism).

Correct, and the other well known building is the London Stock Exchange in the top right corner. Although I stated earlier that a.j.z. was the winner he seems absent, do you have an image to post war?

Yes it is a star fort and I'm standing behind a parapet. The wide crenels not shown here were indeed designed for cannon.
