Let's try to kick this one off. There are plenty of forum members that fly to places worldwide all the time. This thread is about images taken from airplane windows. (or parachutes ;)) The rules are the same as the " Do you know the world" thread - the one that guesses the right place gets to post the next shot. I'm not really a frequent flyer, but I can supply an easy one to start:

I like taking pictures of Dogs because they don't object to being photographed - and they don't ask for prints.

Hello Jaap,

Glad you & the others are OK. It appears the cars crumpled the way they were supposed to. Not that many years ago the cars would probably have looked better but the people might not have done so well.

This Thread is an interesting idea.

Looks to me like I can see a very Dutch appearing church on the left side above the middle so I think I will say Rotterdam unless it is Hellevoetsluis.

Always be safe.

Best Regards,

Michael

I sent a mail to Okram quite a while ago, but he seems to have disappeared. Can you supply a shot, Marco?

OK, here's my input. A little help: you can NOT land at this island, but you can on the other part that belongs to the same group (same name). And you can NOT land there without some training.

Oh, and a jumbo jet will not fit either :D

On a more serious footing: quite some history to be found there.

Damn... nice game but I have to scan some old prints... :o

Vienna... I'm not 100% sure, but the portion in the picture includes Westbhanstrasse, street of Leicashop...you surely did it intentionally... :P

thank you, marco and jaap.

i should have thought first, then volunteered an answer, because most of my images "from above" were taken before my first leica (the m8) came out.

in any case, here's a night shot from one of my favorite cities. good luck!

It's a Nikon image, so I pulled it. Forum rules -- Only photos made with Leica cameras, or Leica lenses, or both.

Hello rick,

Interesting photo.

With the hill in the background on the other side of the river I think we might be in South America.

Best Regards,

Michael

thank you, michael. a good guess, but unfortunately not correct.

a hint? moving the camera angle to the right (clockwise), we would find a rather posh cricket club.

good luck

i'm sorry, i didn't see stuart's note about removing the image. i've looked and don't have any usable "world from above" photos with leica participation, so i'll have to pass. the answer to the photo i did post was singapore.

michael and jaap, maybe you'd like to restart this thread with a new photo for me?

kind regards

rick

Hello rick,

Sorry you don't have anything to Post right now. Thank you for the opportunity.
I think I will pass to Jaap because I don't have anything to Post that is a view from above.

Best Regards,

Michael
