Hi, Can someone please help me with my IIIF camera? I cannot find out whether this is a true IIIF camera or a conversion. It has a selftimer, and a Black dial. Shutterspeeds are

B,25,50,75,100,200,500,100 and at the front1,2,5,25,15,10.. The engraving is Leica DBP ErnstLeitz GMBH Wetzlar Germany, SN 673034. This seems to be a leica IF according to what I found on the Internet.

I hope someone can help. Many thanks!

Hans

I would think its stretching credibility to say a If can be updated to IIIf configuration considering a If has no rangefinder mechanism.

If it has no rangefinder its a If upgraded with slow shutter speeds and a self timer. Its not a IIIf if it doesn't have a rangefinder.

The Leica Pocket Pod, compiled by Erwin Puts, available as a PDF download on his website, Tao of Leica.

But that list agrees with the others (Cameraquest and Leica), its a If not a IIIf? If the OP could confirm if it does have a rangefinder perhaps as its only 33 serial numbers away from the changeover there is an overlap from the IIIf to the If batch?

Thank you all very much. So if I get it right; it was originally an IF camera that was upgraded to a IIIF. Does that mean that they took over the IF serial number onto the new topplate? My camera does have a range/view finder!

May thanks to all who tried to help me. Much appreciated!

Conversions of If to IIf/IIIf were available from Leitz, as standard listed "upgrades"... no much time ago, in this section, a member even posted the copy of the page of a Leica pricelist with the above (and others, too... also "c" models could be upgraded).
