Fotomiguel Posted November 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's been hard but I got it. Finallly I start my first m9 holidays. I've just spent four days on the mountains of Mallorca trekking and touring the famous trail G221 (Sa Tramontana). It's a path from Andratx to Pollença through the mountains. We've slept in tends and the nights were very cold, but no batteries problems. After four days I had to quit without finishing. No more power in my legs. Some part of the path were really hard. The M9 with four lenses were part of the extra weight I had to carry. Not many shots but some nice ones. The M9 and the M lenses are perfect for these kind of activities. So I continue my holidays with a trip to Paris. 7 days to find the spirit of Cartier Bresson.... But if not, I'm going just to visit the most famous places. May be some of you could give me some advises. I would like to know: -Some good places, activities, markets, etc to practice some photography. -Is there any part of Paris where is better not to go to keep my M9 safe? What about the night? -Is possible to go into museums with the M9 even when is not allow to shot. I wouldn't like to leave my M9 in the wardrobe. It has happened to me in Mallorca. -Is it fine to shoot people (the same way like in Spain) or I will be treated as a criminal like in UK. -Any interesting photography shop? Leica shop? 35 summilux in stock? Second hand accesories? Photography museum? Thank you very much in advance. Kind regards Miguel

Doc Henry Posted November 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted November 25, 2010 Miguel, with Artz, you can go to Paris without problem Go shoot quietly. He is a charming gentleman and a nice Parisian "Some good places, activities, markets, etc to practice some photography." Many nice places to shoot with your M9 , like : Louvre museum,Orsay museum, River Seine,Paris bridges specially "Pont des Arts" Father Lachaise cemetery where Chopin is buried and many others famous men and women etc ... "Is there any part of Paris where is better not to go to keep my M9 safe? What about the night?" No problem with your M9 "Is possible to go into museums with the M9 even when is not allow to shot. I wouldn't like to leave my M9 in the wardrobe. It has happened to me in Mallorca". I already shoot in the Louvre museum with my M8 and M9 and also in Orsay Museum (with a monopod but no flash!) "Is it fine to shoot people (the same way like in Spain) or I will be treated as a criminal like in UK". Shoot people ? yes easily .... and you are not a criminal ! "Any interesting photography shop? LuxBob Posted November 26, 2010 Share #5 Posted November 26, 2010 I have got some of my best pictures just by wandering aimlessly but rarely in the famous or more popular areas. Last time, as we wandered down from Montmartre, it became more and more interesting and then I found the less famous cemetery of Montmartre; several famous people but that is not the point. Nice to see the spirits of our ancestors still contributing something to our life.

Guest Essemmlee Posted November 26, 2010 Share #7 Posted November 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) What a pleasure to see such camaraderie amongst Leica users. To me this is what photography is all about. The venue of Paris couldn't be better; there are photos everywhere, from the Sacre Coeur to the left bank. I am very envious. Fotomiguel Posted December 13, 2010 Author Share #11 Posted December 13, 2010 Paris and some thoughts: The M9 has worked amazing. My first travel with it and I've found no limits. My highest ISO has been 1000 iso. Even at night without any tripod. I've felt in this travel a more a tourist than a photographer. I discovered the most tipical but great and interesting places of Paris. It was a really cold week and I liked to walk with my camera on my shoulder but sometimes I had to keep the camera behind my jacket to prevet malfunction. It happened a couple of times. The batterie was frozen. Most of the shots with my usual 50mm cron but some with the 18mm superelmar, the 28mm elmarit and just a few with the 75mm cron. Really nice to shoot people in Paris. Nobody seems to care about it. Really nice to go into the Louvre and the Pompidu. You can enjoy the M9 so much. In another museums were not allow to shoot. Special thanks to Artz. (Manuel) We spent one day together. He showed my Paris and we had really nice and interesting conversations. My pictures of Paris may be are not my best pictures but they can really show how good works the M9 in any situation. IMHO there is no better camera for travel. If you like to have a look:Zenfolio | Slideshow | Miguel Massanet Amer I hope some day I will come back with time to discover the real Paris.

Rick Posted December 13, 2010 Share #13 Posted December 13, 2010 Miguel, very nice thread and your photographs are very nice. You have a very good eye for it. It looks like the 50mm is your favorite. Thanks for this little trip. I have a flight booked for August 16th for one week in Paris. At that time of year the seagulls won't be able to walk on the water at the Louvre. Now, I can't wait to take my camera.
erl Posted December 14, 2010 Share #14 Posted December 14, 2010 Miguel, in my several experiences in Paris, it is very photo friendly. I suggest you consider taking a film Leica as well and shoot some B&W. Paris seems to 'love' B&W film. It is extra baggage but well worth the effort. Every time I read someone is going to Paris I get the travel lust. It will be fabulous.
smazzucato Posted December 14, 2010 Share #15 Posted December 14, 2010 Miguel, I like your pictures. I hope to be able to as nice pictures as you did at the end of december while visiting Paris with my limited M9 experience, only 2 weeks... Doc Henry Posted December 14, 2010 Share #20 Posted December 14, 2010 Hi Miguel and Artz, I'm really sorry for missed appointments , but as I told you i had a terrible night guard (I have not slept almost all night). Finally I had to give up going to Paris to see Miguel and his mother, as I promised. I saw that Miguel took great pictures on his site. This is for another time, for example in summer... Again my apologies Best to both of you Henry
