luigi bertolotti Posted May 30, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 30, 2010 I don't know behavioral attitudes on e bay... but the "bids history" seems strange ... fine item, anyway, the "biblical-beasty" bid maybe means that seller has decided not to sell it anymore ? adan Posted May 30, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 30, 2010 An inverse case of - what was it they called it when the Dow dropped 1000 points in 3 minutes a couple of weeks ago - "fat-finger syndrome?" Someone made a typo entering a stock bid, and all the stop-loss orders programmed on trading computers followed it down like lemmings?
pop Posted May 31, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 31, 2010 A case of The Misplaced Decimal Point or money laundering?
luigi bertolotti Posted May 31, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 31, 2010 A case of The Misplaced Decimal Point or money laundering? Nah... 666 is too a symbolic number... (even if seems there was also a 665.900 bid... )
wizard Posted May 31, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, the seller said 'Make me an offer'. Surely, THAT is an offer he should find hard to resist . Andy
jaapv Posted May 31, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 31, 2010 Of course, if you buy it, the Noctilux will magically turn into a pair of jeans or a jar of bodylotion...
Robert J Posted June 1, 2010 Share #9 Posted June 1, 2010 There is the possibility that the seller's account has been hijacked.Prior to this listing there was no activity for over 3 years. Those listings were various clothing items.

thestatesman Posted September 13, 2016 Share #14 Posted September 13, 2016 (edited) He often has over-priced goods. Look in every month or so to see his relisted dreams. They wouldn't be the first. It's funny to search Leica in eBay and then sort by highest amount. I just noticed this post was made in 2010, has this dreamer been relisting every month since or do people really buy these? I guess all he needs is one buyer. In 1969 I looked at a new one in a Chicago shop. As I recall it was priced at $663. I passed on it then, and will pass on this one too. I thought that the seller didn't want the former owner to see at what stellar price his former Nocti is offered... ... anyway, luckily isn't the one that i bought & sold 8 months later 29 years ago ... both deals in the 800 Euros range... Leica lens sales are full of this, even with lowly 50 Summicrons. I suspect many of us own lenses the past of which are completely unknown to us. One *might* find out but only by listing full serial numbers and waiting to be contacted by someone's insurance company's Asset Recovery Team. s-a Edited September 15, 2016 by semi-ambivalent
