Advertisement Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Hi mickjazz, Take a look here Sonnar LTM. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fiftyonepointsix Posted July 10, 2015 Share #22 Posted July 10, 2015 I have seen others like this one, SN of the optics indicate wartime production and most likely completed after the war in Germany as the factory was rebuilding. The lenses completed in Russia tended to have "ears" on the aperture as they were hauled away. The post-war Zeiss lenses did away with the "ears", have an aperture ring that looks like yours. It should give good results. The Wartime Sonnar lenses are an improved optical formula and have better flatness of field compared with the earlier Sonnars and Nikkor Sonnar formula lenses. fiftyonepointsix Posted July 12, 2015 Share #24 Posted July 12, 2015 The second from the left is very similar to yours. I've seen quite a few of these "transition" lenses. I believe they were finished just after the war, and had a mix of components made during the war and finished at the plant afterwards. I have one that had an unfinished middle triplet: literally the polishing of the glass was n ot complete. Front and real optics are perfect. I replaced the middle triplet with one from a 1950 KMZ J-3, meaning it was made by Zeiss. Welcome, dear visitor! fiftyonepointsix Posted July 12, 2015 Share #25 Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) Internal view of a very late wartime helical (4-digits on helical) and a "transition" made fixture. My early wartime lens has a helical number of 294. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
