Lens Pouches for Leica M Lenses?

Does anyone know where to buy lens pouches suitable in size for Leica M lenses?

All I can seem to find online nowadays are big fat pouches for big fat Nikanon zooms, which could double as coffee mug warmers. But I only need something tiny for my 35 and 50mm glass. Hints welcome!

Canon makes some small lens pouches that work.

The Canon LP814 pouch holds a WATE or a 90 APO ASPH standing up nicely.

The Canon LP811 holds a 28 cron standing up, or smaller lenses like a 35 cron standing up as well with extra top room, that just folds down.

The pouches have padded bottom and soft sides and draw string tops..

I have been using these form op/tech in the mini wide and small wide sizes. The come with clips, and I have cut most of these off very easily. Neoprene, so it gives some protection. It also comes in 4 or 5 colors.

Officail name: Op/Tech Photo / Electric Universal Pouch, Mini Size, Wide Body - Color

The link:

Just click op/tech and search and you'll get pages of sizes. I found the "wide" body version works better.

Go into a military supplies or climbing store and have a look for small well made nylon pouches. I have some made by a Tasmanian/Aussie company (military kit) and the small one fits anything up to a 35 biogon and the bigger one would fit a 90 f2. I use these on my belt ocassionally.

... need something tiny for my 35 and 50mm glass ...

For my 35 / 50 mm Summarit lenses I use the 'Markins ball head pouches'.

Made of neoprene with leather rim: lighweight yet robust, soft inside, affordable.

I found them at photoproshop.com.

Would be happy if they had bigger ones (for my Nikon zoom lenses) as well.

Any bigger neoprene ones out there ?

Regards, Peter

The blue bags from Royal Crown scotch.

Buy a yard of ultra swede and sew up a bag. Even I can do this.

An old sweat shirt or sweat parts has nice thick soft materal.

An old flannel sheet is ok if you keep the lenses in a primary bag.

I have a mixture of all this stuff. They all work sufficiently well if yu don`t toss them loose into a backpack.

I've posted this elsewhere too, but again; I've just bought a Deuter Cameras Case XS which fits a 50/1.4 almost perfectly and has sufficient padding to allow it to be put in a pocket/bag. Quite cheap and they make slightly larger ones too.

I use a couple of neoprene beer bottle coolers. They cost me $3 each. They have an open top obviously, but are very small and fit my 35 and 50 perfectly - stops them bumping around in my bag but allows quick easy access to both.

Funny I do the same thing. Found a close out on black ones with red interior for $1 each . I use rubber bands to close the tops while traveling. They seem to be exactly the necessary thickness and size .

The really nice ones are by artisan & artists ..they have a velcro closure and cost around $65. They also stretch a bit and can cover a 90 summicron or a noctilux.

 $65 for a lens pouch. I'd rather use old socks and garden twine!

Pouches that don't look like lens pouches also make sense due to the risk of theft.

For my rangefinder gear, I love the LowePro Terracline range of recycle material pouches in different sizes.

For the usual Leica M lens, the medium size fits very well (50 Lux ASPH, 90 2.8 TeleElmarit 46 filter size, 35 Cron ASPH, …).

For lenses as small as a CV 15 Heliar, even the smallest size fits great.

I use the bigger size 30, to fit a Leica M without lens for travel or accessory.

The great thing about these pouches is, they are multi functional.

I have fitted a slim Nikon neck strap to each of these bags (similar in size and appearance to the Leica strap, but without the plastic bumper).

This way, I can even sling them over a shoulder, when not taking a camera bag with me and have one or two extra lenses with me.

You can wear them also on a belt.

They are rather inexpensive too with ranging from around 10 − 20 EUR, depending on size.

The biggest size is actually a small satchel with a zipped document compartment and the same quick plastic hook locks (I think, this one is about 40 EUR).

I've been using Zing pouches. Neoprene with clips and a belt loop. There is some extra space in the small bags for a normal sized lens (50/1.4), but they work well and are only about $8. The medium size will fit a body with no lens (or a very short lens). They are useful for all kinds of miscellaneous items as well.

I found that cases made for compact digital cameras work very well. the Lowepro D-Pods 20 is great for my 35 cron (with the hood on) and I found a Nikon Coolpix case that works for my 50 cron with the hood left on. There are lots of cases out there for the point and shoots so you will have many to choose from!

  • 6 years later...

I wanted to resurrect this topic. I'm searching for thin, lightweight pouches for my Leica Lenses. I don't want anything padded or neopreme, just a cloth or silk bag that I can put lenses next to each other in my Hadley Pro just to protect against the lenses scratching or scuffing each other.  Any ideas?  It seems Billingham used to make something but not anymore.
