Technological failure
This is a Lindsay two shot Musket. It is a single barreled musket having 2 hammers, the two loads were done one on top of the other, one hammer fired the front load the second fired the rear load, in theory. Usually both went off at the same time. 1000 were made, they were field tested once during the US Civil War and went back into storage;
