Default Early Industry

Just finished editing a new gallery of photos shot during a weekend stay in the Peak District, focussing on the early Mill town industries of Derbyshire, which sparked the Industrial Revolution in England. Most photos are taken inside the "Working textile factory museum" at Mason Mills. All are shot in black and white on Leica cameras and usually in low light with wide open apertures.

Most on the the M8 with Nockton 35mm f1.2 - this was when I discovered what a great lens this can be wide open in low light situations.

A few of the others are shot on an old M2 with 50mm summicron f2 lens and 400 ISO film

Here are a couple

M8 - 35mm Nockton f1.2

M2 - 50mm Summicron f2 - Neopan 400

If you have a minute please do check out the whole gallery at:

Early Industry Photo Gallery by Nick De Marco at pbase.com

Thanks

Nick

Very good - and excellent gallery too.

Looks like a great place for a forum meet

Obviously, they have no problem with people taking photographs. Did you have to apply for permission at all?

Not at all. I always worry about that (God how I hate the "You can't photograph this/me" culture in the UK these ays.). But when the guy collecting tickets at the door saw me with my 2 cameras around my neck (albeit they were handsome Leicas not great bulky DSLRs with flash lights) he immediately sparked up and said - "Oh, it's a great place for taking photos in there" and proceeded to give me a lengthy explanation of where the best places to see things were. Very friendly. I think I saw one Japanese guy with a Nikon take a couple of photos but nobody else inside was.

Nick,

nice images, both here and on pbase.

It's good that photography is encouraged someplace these days.

Nick, well enjoyed. I like the narrow DOF with the wide open aperature and great bokeh.
