Abe Lincoln's pocket watch?
![]() I'm trying to figure how the parabolic ratchet pawl thingy works; at first I thought that it was part of a striking mechanism but on reflection it is possibly a regulator? Thanks for posting. ![]() |

Holy Cow! Pete, you're encyclopedic. This is the old Church clock mechanism in St Mark's Episcopal Church (Peter Stuyvesant's homestead & church). It's lying in disrepair, outside, unprotected in the back of the church. I berated several senior churchman in positions of authority to no avail about this travisty. It's future is undetermined. You guys are something.

Senior churchmen in a position of authority do not often respond to berating, at least around here. When Madame Tussaud's did a christmas chreche scene recently with David and Victoria Beckham in the principle roles, Lambeth Palace (Archbishop of Canturbury) was asked for a reaction. Their response was "Deary, deary me." ![]() |
