Ronald -
One of the best railroad photos I've seen in quite some time. Excellent angle, composition, timing, contrast, tonal range, detail and action. The implied curve of the track and the arc of the smoke add greatly to the overall effect. |

Thanks, but please forget the 3rd/4th shot, posted this only to show the double tracks. I shouldn´t have cut the left track and the trees, this is really crap from my trash can
![]() After shooting the left train the other one appeared surprisingly.

I think they were taken at Drei Annen Hohne on the Harz system, where the Brockenbahn begins? I've never been there in winter but, having seen these shots, it looks as though I should sign up for the trip that Ffestiniog Travel is planning for the end of November this year - It's officially for the Christmas Market in Wernigerode, but there will also be plenty of opportunity for steam train travel and photography - The Ffestiniog Railway is twinned with the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen and some of their staff will be visiting North Wales at the end of April.

a powerful image, full of movement and 'life'. Excellent capture, processing and presentation. Thanks for showing. Rolo

From the days before the ridiculous expression "carbon footprint" was coined.
Great shot. ![]()

Great images Ronald. There is something that has always fascinated me with German steam engines. Must be after poring/drooling over the Fleichmann catalogues as a kid.
