osscat Posted February 25, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have Nokton 35mm f1.2 manually selected as Summicron 35mm f1.4 - framelines are accurate. 1600 iso - taken to see how the combination worked in mixed lighting - don't like the obstruction in the viewfinder but seems to work very nicely. Very simple pp - have since adjusted parameters in menu. Osscat Welcome, dear visitor! osscat Posted February 25, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted February 25, 2014 Thanks all but this image was put up in a discussion about coding lenses for the new M - I noted that I manually selected a lens which was similar but different to my Nokton f1.2 35mm choosing instead a leica f1.4 35mm from the M240 menu - the image showed that focus and exposure were correct even though there is no 6 bit encoding. Just why Jaapv decided to move the image from the thread I posted it in as an example of non leica lenses working properly on the M240 is pedantry of the highest order. Rules, Rules, Rules he claims well - Rules are for the guidance of WISE men and the strict adherence of FOOLS Grumpily Osscat
andybarton Posted February 25, 2014 Share #6 Posted February 25, 2014 So this shot was originally in a thread about you telling everyone that you have a new camera. Nowhere in that thread, before this shot, is there any discussion about coding lenses (as far as I can see) If anything, IMHO, this shot should have been moved to the Lens sub-forum, with another post explaining what the coding issue or solution was. Just my 5p as an ex-Moderator.
jaapv Posted February 25, 2014 Share #7 Posted February 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Good idea; If you start a coding thread I can move the image there as illustration.
osscat Posted February 25, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted February 25, 2014 No Andy - I was reading a thread about coding lenses - and posted there. There were shots of the M240 LCD screen with lens details on and others explaining how they encoded their own lenses. That was the context in which I posted the image as an example of a none coded lens working accurately on the M240. It was pertinent to that discussion and not a post to SHOW OFF - the image is pretty crap by my standards. The choice of subject was a deliberate test to see if the un-coded lens was focusing and exposing correctly. As that would seem to be the case I posted it as encouragement to other new M240 owners. I have looked for that thread and can't find it, either I was having an hallucination or it is somewhere I have not looked. It is why I have been so angry with Jaapv because he turned my post into a petty self congratulatory one rather than the informative example it was intended to be. andybarton Posted February 25, 2014 Share #9 Posted February 25, 2014 I assumed that it had come from the "I've got a new camera" thread, as that's where you were moaning about this shot's change of location.
andybarton Posted February 25, 2014 Share #10 Posted February 25, 2014 Could it have been this thread? http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m-lenses/317972-coding-used-lens.html

andybarton Posted February 25, 2014 Share #13 Posted February 25, 2014 What? Now you're blaming me for starting the thread 18 months ago? Give me a break. I've been trying to help you here. I honestly don't know why I've just wasted half an hour of my time if all I get is a for my trouble.
