carl_valiquet Posted January 9, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 9, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Many times I come across this woman who seems to be carrying her whole world with her. She walks with pride, her head held high. I passed her on my bicycle and waited till she walked into the area that I had pre-focused the 75 Elmarit. Film: Ilford Delta 100. I wished she would have walked more to the center of the frame but hey! such is street photography. C* Welcome, dear visitor! Frank Sellitto Posted January 14, 2015 Share #3 Posted January 14, 2015 Many times I come across this woman I wished she would have walked more to the center of the frame but hey! such is street photography. C* I agree. Her head shape is obstructed by the background...and too much empty space in the foreground! Great effort ~f
Iduna Posted January 15, 2015 Share #4 Posted January 15, 2015 Carl, very good in spite of problems in composition. In think that this woman has already gone a long way the empty foreground can also be seen as a symbol of the same. As she approaches a brighter area in front her load becomes more contrasty. I think it is a very touching picture.
carl_valiquet Posted January 16, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted January 16, 2015 If an image touches the viewer If that same image is well composed Than I think it becomes a lasting image. To quote Henri Cartier-Bresson: “Of course it’s all luck.” Thank you Iduna, Frank and Alan. I appreciate your comments. C*
robert_parker Posted January 17, 2015 Share #6 Posted January 17, 2015 An image delivering powerful reportage - I wouldn't worry about the composition too much - as with all good images, the picture tells the story with its own vocabulary and supreme eloquence

Guest Posted September 9, 2015 Share #9 Posted September 9, 2015 Maybe you were a PJ in the old days of printed magazines. There would be room for writing in the lower left corner. Serious, I think it is perfect the way is. The composition emphasizes her loneliness, the long way that she was bravely walking in her life so far and gives a sense of her straight direction. To me this is a very touching picture. ______ btw i miss the automatic gallery, that was part of the starting window in the old forum at the beginnig of almost every visit here. This is the second reason, why I haven't (yet?) renewed my premium membership. The first being that I suggested months ago to have under the function "view new content" and there "filter by forum" the following possibility: to be able to chose the sub-fora I would like to follow (which works now fine) go to view all new content AND return to: following my choice of forums AT A CLICK. Now this choice I have meticulously made IS LOST when going to "view all" and later returning to the "Other". I admit, the brave lady in the photograph and her load put this "wish" into the right proportion.
