pauledell Posted July 30, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 30, 2014 A fine shot with the contrast between the lady in the sun and the silhouette of the person at the left. I would suggest cropping some off the top and right hand side which has no detail at all in the shadow. Perhaps even consider converting it to b&w after cropping. dunos Posted July 30, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 30, 2014 Great shot, well timed and captured. I actually don't think it needs cropping.
rirakuma Posted July 30, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted July 30, 2014 Thanks for the feedback guys. I had thought about cropping it and also converting it to BW but I preferred it in colour. Here's a cropped version in bw as suggested Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! stuny Posted July 30, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 30, 2014 Lovely, perfect timing, and I agree it's stronger in color.
Louis Posted July 30, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 30, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) A really great shot! Well seen and well captured! For once, I like it better in color!... I would only fix the verticals!
philipus Posted August 1, 2014 Share #8 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) I love this one. It has a slide film feel to it which speaks to me. There are bits of Saul Leiter in it, too, with the large areas of varying colours and shapes. It is an image I most definitely prefer in colour but, if you allow me, this is how I would have cropped it to further enhance the mysterious feeling. I very much like the large dark area to the right and cropping like this strengthens the impression that the lady steps from a large empty void into this world. It can be cropped even further on the left to leave out the excavator, which would focus on the lady, the dark void and the graffiti, but then the other person would disappear and that would be a shame. It is a powerful image. Well done. Philip Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! rirakuma Posted August 1, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted August 1, 2014 Phillip, thank you for the insight and I agree I think your cropping makes the picture a lot better. I'm going to update it as suggested
