Moments before the drivers ran to their cars, quickly going into Dunlap Corner, which is a tire repair shop on 9th Avenue.
Since 9/11 NYPD is constantly conducting drills, and sights like this are very common throughout the city. |

I've heard its drills as well as preventive (against you know what). Having a convoy of vehicles with sirens going to potential targets is meant as a deterent... or just a big light show and a great ooh and ah moment for tourists.

Watch as you walk around town. Tourists are constantly taking photos of police and fire fighters, without and with (mostly) family members in the shot. I suspect that is the much bigger tourist draw. |
