I went to a showing of the new California in Monterey a few weeks ago. Beautiful with an engine that REALLY revs, a bit more free sounding than many Ferraris. It will be stunning, great with the top down as well.

Mmmh, I don't know. Personally, I don't own a single black Ferrari.
Red only.

I used a program called NIK Silver EFEX. It does wonders with black and white.

New one looks so smooth... But for me - classic is always classic. I bet $100, that if anyone would see both new one and old one next to each other in the street, old one would win their attention hands down leaving the new Ferrari California to cry in the corner...
I saw one new California on the road about 2 weeks ago... probably still a test car, and was of striking beauty (hadn't the capabilty to take an instant pic...) : but the old classic caught by Stuart is anyway unforgettable; I have an old Italian car magazine of 1961, with price lists of all the cars sold in Italy at that time... 250 California went for 5,5 M It. liras... I think that in first '60s they were around 10.000 US$... or even slightly less...

Driving the old one, you've got Sophia Loren on the passenger seat.
$10,000.00 in 1960 had about the same buying power as $72,040.96 in 2008.Annual inflation over this period was about 4.2%.
Still a bargain.

Really this is a correct evaluation ? Astonishing... but thinking well not too surprising... after all, a legend like 250 California is anyway a very simply made car... compared to some today's compacts cars in the range of 25-30K US$ it has many many less devices-servos-micromotors-cabling-mechanisms... even the seats are a lot crude compared to modern ones... OK, the 12 cyl engine would be still a costly item to bulid... but the rest, respect to today's standard, is a "cheap" build...

Beautiful car but it would lose a couple of $million if you put it on the road, and another couple if you drove it much. In those days Ferarris would so road useable as they are now.
