Ken, welcome aboard the forum. I like this image. The reds are wonderful and the color is well renderd throughout. Has a very old shoe feel in this image. Nice focusing as well for the Nocti.

That is a great shot....taking a 'normal' subject and making a very nice photograph.

Also like the color's and viewpoint, well done.

Thanks Ben, I don't comment much but I have been enjoying your NYC photos. I just bought a Bessa to play with these lenses on film for the first time. This was from the first roll, and I wanted to see what the Noctilux looks like full frame.

I have two rolls of Velvia 100, and a roll of Ilford 400 BW to play with, but I have no idea where to get these developed. Any recommendations for Manahattan or Brooklyn for cheap, good film developing + scans? Not looking for super high res scans, just something decent, while I play and learn.

From my first roll, which was Fuji Superia 100.

These are my very first film shots, so I bought 2 rolls of the sort-of vanilla Superia, 2 rolls of Velvia 100 (which I am excited about trying), and two rolls of Illford BW 400 (BH5? I think).

The two rolls of superia came out fine so I know the camera works, and I can safely load film!

I shot one roll of the BW yesterday, and I was not sure if the local drugstore could process it. I asked the tech at the counter and he said "sure", and I took my chances and gave it to them, and sure enough it came out blank. So now I know the Illford BW is not C41 process.

I need to find a place for the non-C41 film. I'd hate to shoot any more rolls till I can find a place to develop them. I want to learn from my mistakes with each roll, so I need the feedback from the development.

The M8 is great for learning, just shoot away till you get it right. With film I have to go slower and wait for the roll to come back to learn my lessons.

Ken, I send my B&W & color films to:
US Color Lab 12 Mercer St New York, NY 10013 (212) 254-7200.

Nice guys, tell them you heard about them from the Leica Forum & they usually give a discount. I do my own scans so I'm not aware of market rates on the street. If you like film, squirrel away some pennies for an Epson V700 or a dedicated film scanner like Nikon/Minolta... You will save bigtime in the end. Check the forum for tags with "Scanner" in the film forum and elsewhere. There's a ton of very talented film heads that really know their stuff. I started from below ground and now I feel very comfortable scanning my B&W negs in color, to get more depth & use the color casts in the plastic.

Let me know about the Bessa. I've been on & off with west coast Steve to get a used one for the wide angles.

MOST IMPORTANT!!! Come & join us in our foray into the jungles of Manhattan. You will be protected by a host of clever photogs masquerading around Grand Central on 7/13 (hope I got that date right). Send me an email address by PM & I'll add you to growing list of Leica NYMetro shooters. Ciao for Now.
