A timeless beauty. One day in December 1978 I had the pleasure of watching Walter Cronkite drive into Manhattan from Northport with the top down in his Copper toned XKE. He & I were the only ones on the Northern Turnpike at 6:00 AM on a Sunday. I was in my wife's TR 7 similary situated. It was freezing, but the heater kept me warm. Walter had a n errie glow on his face the entire trip. What an awesome car.

1974: senior year of high school. There was a nice fellow whom I had helped with schoolwork from time to time. On the last day of the year or thereabouts, he brought his dad's powder blue E-type 12 cyl. convertible to school, tossed me the keys, and told me to be back in an hour. It was a lot nicer than my Buick Century (which was a nice first car-thanks mom and dad). What an hour in the warm Southern California sun. For the record, I did not exceed 30 mph for fear of catastrophe.
