They are shock-absorbers. Before someone thought of hydraulic/telescopics they used friction dampers. ![]()

My first car was a well-used early Brit afffair with rather expensive lever shocks. I like your framing and details. If I were the owner I think I'd hunt up a skilled artisan to fix the enamel. |
