David -

For me this would have worked if for no other reason than you've captured a circa 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder. But even forgetting that you've captured a very nice duel with the spirit of the day, and by capturing them on the curve like this the composition works well. I did adjust it a bit to better feature the beuaty of the cars and remove the dust spots. DMR?

Hi Stuart, thanks for taking the time to comment. As shot, the photo had very low contrast because of the mist and rain. I took the contrast adjustment as far as I thought I could. Your version confirms that for me: Too much contrast kills the shadow detail in the trees and on the cars, particularly the Ferrari grille. It just looks a bit extreme to me.
I respect your opinion though and would be interested to hear what others think.

Cheers, David.

David - I like the motion and the "curves" in this image. The rain adds drama to the event and interesting reflections to the photograph. Thanks for sharing.

Missed this one.
The original version of this atmospheric capture looks best on my screen. Excellent choice of viewpoint, you can see the cars coming at you and decide what to do, then grab them when they make the turn.

That strange looking Bentley is currently for sale.

Mark and Doc: Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Pete: Thanks for the kind words. On a side note: These guys were driving, as Ronald once said, "with no regard for the old material". I think one would want to confirm the Bentley's recent service history before considering it...

Azzo: Thanks for the generous compliment.

BTW, Stuart, this was taken with a modified "DR" Summicron, and a Leica digital camera that shall remain unamed here... lest the flames reach this thread

Cheers all, David.

P.S. Here's an expanded view of the same curve, about one half hour later... nice view, eh? (This must be the 28 Elmarit ASPH)
