Default All our yesterdays...

Oulton Park Gold Cup 2006.
I think this looks like Tri-X, which was my weapon of choice 30 yrs ago.

Cheers,
Pete

If you still have your programme, could you tell us about each of these? I don't recognise that Aston. (Want to buy Aston? I'll give you Bob Dover's phone number and you two can buy it! )

Have also a snap of a car I don't know which I'll try to post over the weekend as the hurricane, wind and rain move through here. Maybe you can identify it.

From the front (which was actually mid-field in the race ), Aston Martin Project 214, a very special (and expensive) car which has been raced by just about everybody of note since it was built in 1961, check the web for more info; next is a genuine Shelby Mustang 350 these have gone stratospheric in price in the US and many muscle cars of the era are now going back across the water from Europe; then there is an Alfa TZ1, not sure which as there were two in the race; next is a partially hidden Lotus 17, an MGB and Jaguar C type from 1952.

I think that I had the FZ30 set to 400 ISO for this shot (I'm not able to read exif data), it does not look quite so good in colour so I may stick with B&W conversion in future.

Cheers,
Pete.

Honestly, I had not seen the prior post. I just remember the car...as driven to an outstanding finish (? 3rd overall ?) at Le Mans by Jim Clark, as I recall

Pete,

Nice shot. I like it based on its' photographic merit but even more as it reminds me of the Shelby that I used to own.

Best,

Ray

Ray, Steed,
Thanks; if only we knew what they were going to be worth! I let a 3yr old Dino go at 2k GBP, a 2 yr old XKE V12 roadster go at 3k GBP!! Not to mention the '20's Top Hat Austin 7 at 30 GBP!!!

Pete.

Pete,

Nice body on that Alfa. Is it Zagato? Wires or early alloys?

I only made your mistake once, but if I still had the car in original condition, I could retire!

William,
Found another shot of one of the TZ1 GT's in the race, this one was driven by Jason Wright and Michael Gans (both from USA), according to the programme it is 1962, 1570 cc, 158 bhp and you are correct it is a Zagato body (looks to me like they had run out of ideas when they reached the rear end!).
From what I have read (you will understnd that I was barely out of diapers at the time) this was the car which many turned too when the Lotus Elite was proving to be less than reliable. The TZ had the legs down the straights but the Elite got 'em in the corners.

Cheers,
Pete

btw, re the discussion elsewhere on panning, here I have got the subject bang in the middle (this is the full frame), I've got the required motion blur, but the car is not pin sharp; I'm still getting the feel of these digital shutters, whereas with my Pentax MX I could expect 90% hit rate

Pete,

Thanks. Not as elegant as the OSCA I drove but suspect that rear is due to Dr. Kamm. Some Ferrari(s) used the Kamm Effect as well.
