It's getting close to the 2nd week in August, the traditional time for the greatest vintage motorsports event anywhere in the western hemispehere, the Rolex Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca, and it's time to inspect, tune up and prepare all my photo gear, and especially my iMac and the external back-up storage unit for a few thousand new images.

Here's a pair of photos of one of last years highlights, the 1.4 liter '73 "Baby Turbo", one of the most spectacularly successful factory-built & entered sports racer ever to come out of Weissach.

This year's featured marque will be Maserati, on the occassion of their centennial………I can't wait.

Hi John

Lovely. However, this silver car is not the 1.4 'Baby' of 1977, but the 2.14 litre Carrera RSR turbo of 1974.

The 'Baby' might be the car behind it in white in picture #1, the base colour in which it raced, with Martini sponsorship.

The 1.4 litre 'Baby' 935 is shown below, at the Porsche museum

Regards

Regardless of identity, these are spectacular, especially the B&W partly for its dramatic angle.

Thank you, Stuart.

To tide you over, here are some shots of a couple of weeks ago at the Canepa monthly 'Open House" of a freshly restored 'Birdcage' which was being taken to Laguna Seca later that day for the car to be completely sorted for the Historics.

I might mention that I tried everything in my meager repertoire of post-processing skills to correct the white balance, but the lighting in the shop area where these were taken has a devilishly difficult greenish color cast, which, combined with the olive / beige floor and wall colors make for a terrible time presenting photos credibly.
