OK, I'm not into cars, but I did like the lines of this one outside a takeaway in Valletta, Malta. So can someone enlighten me, what is it? M9. 35/1.4 pre-aspheric.

A very nice shot. Michael is correct that it is an MGA (Morris Garage, later BMC, later British Leyland). The MGA was the first MG with an envelope body, all earlier ones having separate wings/fenders with headlights atop them. They sold to the public from 1956 through 1962, replacing the MG TF, and being replaced by the MGB. The one you see here is from '56-'59, and has optional wire wheels, aftermarket luggage rank, and after market wind deflectors at the edges of the windscreen. Mine was a 1958 coupe body, which was fairly rare. By far the largest market for the MGA, which eventually sold over 100,000 copies was North America, with a tiny fraction ever sold in its home market.

The twin cam was a mixed blessing, but I would have still preferred it in my coupe. The coupe had real roll-up windows, real door handles and locks on the doors. But just as with all "A"s, with my coupe if I drove quikcly through a puddle a jet of water would spray up my right pantleg where the angled cross member ran between the floor and the side of the car a few inches in front of the seat. And mine was rust free and well sealed. To this day my right leg still flinches when I drive through deep puddles, and I sold that car in 1965 or 1966.
