Pete, I'd be reluctant to suggest that because I think it's too specialised a subject - if there's a cars forum, why not a cats forum, or a people wearing hats forum?
I think it's up to the rest of us to redress the balance :-)

Sorry, but in this case it's obvious you're clueless and beyond redemption. Obviously you need to be a "car person" to get it.Now..., I suggest you be VERY careful here or I may begin to comment on your pictures! Naturally, I'll continue to comment when you "hit one out of the park" as before...BTW, this is a LOT more than a replica car, as Pete suggested.

Steve,
You have hit it on the head here: I love cats (don't own one though) but I hate photos of them and as a result I very, very, rarely open the Nature and Wildlife forum; which is a shame because I like good bird photos, of which there are some stunners here, occasionally. I would hate to think that there are folks who are interested in sports but who avoid theat section because it is filled with car pictures, many of which, imho, seem to have nothing to do with either sports or lesiure. Let's just imagine that we have both a cats and a cars section........ where should I stick this one? No answer required ![]() Pete. |

If you don't like mine, say so, and tell me why you think they can be improved. If you do like them, say so. If people only commented on other people's "out of the park" shots, whatever they are, there'd be a lot less posting on this place, that's for sure. You very rarely comment on my shots, which leads me to only one conclusion. ![]()

Andy,
That is your opinion which I don't share. As it was in the old Forum, so should it be here. Your better Leica photos are posted for the purpose of sharing. If YOU want a critique of your photos, suggest you join the LUG where they'll not always politely tear them to shreds. You are a "foreigner" though, so they'll be more gentle. A couple of years ago the overall level of photography on the Forum was frankly better, IMO, and there was more to be learned from example. That was and is my main reason for visiting still. If I don't comment on your shots, consider that I have nothing of value to add. I'm not here to teach anyone how to take pictures. Consider one of the workshops in Solms. Ron does one on travel photography and one on street-shooting if you are interested. I take my pictures for myself. If others enjoy them, that is fine and appreciated. If working pros like Brent or Conrad or DD enjoy them, I know I'm onto something. Otherwise, feedback is hardly essential to my being as I have nothing to prove. I know what I like. This thread has wandered far from a photo of an actively-campaigned D-Type replicar it seems to me... Pete, How "creative" was Martyn?! ![]()

I'll say once again that the quality of photography on the LUG is the highest of any I've come across on the internet, there are extremely talented people there, certainly more talented than you or I.

Uwe, as someone who is not an expert in this area, I don't really know, or care, if the car is real or a fake. Fake is probably the wrong word, provided the owner doesn't try to pass it off as an original we can probably refer to it as being a replica :-)

Steve,
The Germans (and one Frenchman) run this site, so what you or I may think is of minor consequence. At least it's a Leica site, which the LUG ceased to be some time ago. The photography here used to be much better as were the manners with a couple of exceptions. You will remember the photo posting instructions on the old Forum? Nothing to do with criticism, and there wasn't much... It was by-and-large very friendly. THAT I miss as I've made many friends there. You can believe what you like and you are certainly entitled to your opinion. I'd give you a handful of superior photographers on the LUG, if they could only keep their mouths shut. I forget that you like street photography in which case there might be three handfulls. Not my thing except on rare occasions. Yes, I suppose I DO consider you a closet anarchist. We have rarely agreed in the past and I doubt we are about to now. Sobeit.Uwe, If you tell Martyn that he drives a fake, I'd imagine he'd be delighted to give you a ride. ![]()

Germans and Frenchmen, are you refering to 'da mods'? If so there's at least one Brit. I don't think they 'run' the site other than in the very broadest sense. Otherwise they'd spend their time deleting posts that don't meet the forum criteria or keeping a strict eye on what is postedI. I don't see much of that.

Steve,
Andreas is now paid to administer this site by Leica Camera AG. It is THEY who decide what can happen here. The new Internet Manger is French. The "Forum Members" on the German side have a lot more influence on what MAY happen here in future than we do. They meet frequently in Solms and at other venues. The moderators on this side volunteered to maintain the O.T. postings as much as possible and to keep things clean. From what I know of the real decision-making process, they have no influence whatever. Andreas was on holiday recently for three weeks and has just returned. Ron was with me for one week and in Cornwall for another. He's just returned. That left Klaus, Andy and Allan. Believe me, there is a LOT more fire and moderation going on in the German Forum, and with reason, than has been necessary here.

When someone complains about a post ot thread, every moderator, even those with no influence whatsoever, get copied in with the complaint automatically.
To my recollection, there were two such complaints on the German side and half a dozen over here over the last month. MaybeKlaus does a lot more "jumping in" than Allan and I do.

I'm more than happy for someone to tell me that a shot I've posted is "crap", if that is their considered view; what I don't care for, seeing that William has raised the subject of manners, is a statement like "Even when there were "decent" photographers posting car photos". I suggest that the poster of that comment withdraws it.
It was William, by the way. Cheers, Pete. |
