Lächeln Proper Trikes - For Allan

Allan,

No use messing about with shots of hacked and poorly restored trikes in the U.S...

Too many people milling about at Mallory for a clear shot of anything, but you can't beat the light and cloud and scenery in England. Get on a plane!

Had only the MP .58 and 35/2 with me on Sunday. Ron, therefore mainly used his 75/2. f5.6 @ 250th, 100UC.

William,

Great photo. I love the subject, sky, and the way you filled the foreground out to the repetition going across the frame.

What film was it - Portra NC?

Very dramatic, William. Nothing unsharp about this shot.

Ray--Might have been 100UC. ;-))

Ray,

Thanks! Where have you been hiding? Brent is correct about the 100UC.

Brent,

Glad you like. You're right about the sharpness. On the full file I can read the instruments on the green trike. I love those Italian plane trees or whatever they are which dot the countryside in England. SOOO different from America.

Hi William!

Thanks for remembering me!!

After fussing endlessly with blown highlights from the pictures I took over the last week here in Indy, I am so, so envious of the wonderful light you have to work with here. It is marvelous. It really lets the colors of the Kodak 100UC shine through.

Your lab does a great job with your photos, also; mine either doesn't care to make any helpful adjustments, or just makes them worse apparently!

Thanks for sharing!

Allan

William -

Terrific! Thanks for posting this. I can never get enough of Moggie trikes. Of course you remember Peter Sellers driving one in the Blake Edwards film, The Party.

Hey William,

I have been spending a lot of time in Montreal, for my new business venture. ( My investment casting supplier is located there. )

On the plus side, it is a fun city with friendly people, good food, and beautiful scenary (architechture and attractive ladies).

Looks like I am going to have to expand my French besides being able to ask directions and order food. Believe it or not, my Spanish actually helped me communicate when someones English was poor.

I have about 9 rolls of film to hopefully develop and scan soon.

Glad to be back.

Best,

Ray

Allan,

The weather can be rotten there for much of the year, but when the light is good, it is stupendous. Face it; the English cheat!

Stuart,

Thanks! You probably know also that trikes are ridiculously quick and potentially very dangerous. A number of Battle of Britain fighter pilots got their basic training in these things. Peter Morgan (RIP) once told me that H.F.S. would not let him have one and that he had to wait for the first 4/4 prototype which his father would then let him drive in the garden.

Regret to inform you that I recall the film first-hand. Interestingly, late one night when Ron and I were loading cameras in the room, BBC2 re-ran the original version of "Bedazzled". Oddly, the quality of the film looked like first-run. Ron thought it absolutely hilarious, (it was always one of my faves), and I found it amusing that Ron wasn't born when I first saw it.

Seems I have a pretty good shot of the front of that trike and a detail shot of another. I'll try to post them before I fall asleep. Ron will have many more good ones when he returns from Cornwall.

Ray,

Look forward to those beauties. Since you are up there, try to hook up with Conrad before he leaves for the Far East for a couple of years.

It really is like an episode of The Odd Couple...

I'd just like to make it clear that the English don't cheat.

Thanks.
