Houston's Art Car Parade is an annual event & one of my favorites since I moved here nearly 20 years ago
it has grown considerably and despite the intrusions of corporate influences, still retains its folk art roots attached are some from this year's parade Sashimi Tabernacle Choir 78861071.z2metWaF.jpg this piscine Art Car has a coordinated hydraulic system that animates its creatures so they dance to Handel's Messiah ...you have to see this to believe it Mirror Image 78873245.I7hdiiGK.jpg a long time favorite of mine ...I worry about the young lady riding in the top car ...this amazing creation was moving quickly Jesus Christ Monkey Car 78861069.neen0siJ.jpg I am surprised that this blasphemous car has survived Art Car Parades unscathed ...Houston is a fairly tolerant town, but there are folks with strong fundementalist views here as well ...a classic in your face Art Car I have larger versions and many, many more examples of this unique art form (which I find very amusing) here Art Cars Photo Gallery by Artichoke Vinagrette at pbase.com hope you enjoy seeing these let me know what you think |

Arthur - very enjoyable shots of wonderful folk art; the fish car in particular is truly amazing. It's always so encouraging to see the wilder realms of creativity! Thanks for showing.

These are really wonderful.
I never cease to be amazed at the creative synergy between cars and people who love them, hate them, or couldn't care less about them. Thanks for sharing. Allan
