Default Art Cars

Houston's Art Car Parade is an annual event & one of my favorites since I moved here nearly 20 years ago
it has grown considerably and despite the intrusions of corporate influences, still retains its folk art roots
attached are some from this year's parade
Sashimi Tabernacle Choir

this piscine Art Car has a coordinated hydraulic system that animates its creatures so they dance to Handel's Messiah ...you have to see this to believe it

a long time favorite of mine ...I worry about the young lady riding in the top car ...this amazing creation was moving quickly
Jesus Christ Monkey Car

I am surprised that this blasphemous car has survived Art Car Parades unscathed ...Houston is a fairly tolerant town, but there are folks with strong fundementalist views here as well ...a classic in your face Art Car
I have larger versions and many, many more examples of this unique art form (which I find very amusing) here

hope you enjoy seeing these
let me know what you think

Arthur - very enjoyable shots of wonderful folk art; the fish car in particular is truly amazing. It's always so encouraging to see the wilder realms of creativity! Thanks for showing.
cheers:
Sam

Arthur -

These are really fun, and I encourage anyone who reads this to look at all the images on your site. I was surprised to see so much storng political sentiment.

I think you have found the answer to Stuart's sausage car- but I'm not sure which one?!

I think these may be a better match for Stuart's sausage car

I am slowly getting up the many winners I caught at the parade and am adding them to my web pages
a problem I have is the high percentage of winners I get with the M8

The volvo would be ... pickled herrings, or being swede, pickled driver and herrings. Your site is worth a browse, thanks.

These are really wonderful.

I never cease to be amazed at the creative synergy between cars and people who love them, hate them, or couldn't care less about them.

Thanks for sharing.
