Default Icelandichorserace

Hello!
Im testing if this pictures are interesting, Made by M8, 65mm lens (50mm Summicron). The autowhitebalanse is very different from picture to picture it's a' problem. Therefore I have to make adjustments in Photoshop in same cases.
The drescode is not purple here , a'm waiting for the IR filters..

Default fine captures

of some sturdy horses ...I wonder what breed this is ...they appear stockier than a the quarter horse or thoroughbred that often race here in the US ...very handsome animals and well caught
I think you would be better off abandoning AWB ...it will change from one photo to the next & makes correction that much more work ...I find it best to set a Manual WB (use a cloud in the sky if you do not have a white card) and shoot one image with a white card included (sometimes called a Weibel shot) so you can correct in post afterwards
without an ir/cut filter, the greens will suffer ...correcting the greens in post will give your other tones a yellow bias that is unappealing (I see this in your otherwise fine "One more picture" offering)
while awaiting your ir/cut filters, either process in BW or selectively correct greens in PS, which is less work than it may seem, but still is not as good as using a filter
in any case I would urge you to not use AWB with the M8

Hello!
Thank you for replying, this kind of horses is said to be the original "Vikinghorse" they was taken over in the 700 - 800 hundreds from Norway Danmark and a few from Sweden to Iceland and have preserved the style from that time.

This is from the event

070426 Falki tävling

It's sunset the sun is bright and later on some clouds.
No time to adjust for totaly different light situations.I dont want to ask people with there normal photografik gear after pictures. Therefore I decided to shoot at Auto whitebalance.
I have had M8 at 15 days and shall explore more about the grey card .

This pictures turns up today and i have to put them in to the website.
The new pictures come from Minolta-Konica automatic camera, zoom 28-200, in the pricerange 1000 $.

Compare to the pictures by M8.

The point is, fully automatic SLR camera with a good zoom in the pricerange of the M8 would problaby made the pictures everybody want of a event like this.
Can it be a' alternativ to bye Sony alpha 100 with C-Z lens half the price of M8 ? Probleby my next camera.

Do I have to take every picture in DNG and fix it in C1 to get a' good colour profile ?

But I must say I like the look of the pictures from the event much better from M8 and they are also very charp.

I looked at the samples from the SLR
they are not resolving anywhere near what you got with the M8
the M8 requires some work and careful technique, for sure, but rewards with stunning photographs
the main problem with your photographs was the white balance and this is simple work to fix in PS ...you need to take care to shoot a white card and/or use manual WB ...I routinely do both
the M8 clearly delivers best shooting RAW (or should I say DNG) ....if you want a great jpg camera go with the Fujifilm S5 (or S3) which also has outstanding AWB and superior dynamic range as well as a 14 bit rich color tonality
that said, I almost never use my Fujifilm DSLR now that I have the M8 ...the colors from the M8 are as good (with the ir/cut filter) and the glass available to it superior ...I don't mind tweaking DNG files (and even enjoy it) ...the quality difference of what the M8 delivers is well worth the trouble for me
