Default Superpower at Wernigerode

Early morning at the locomotive shed at Wernigerode as three 'Brockenloks' are prepared for duty. The Harzquerbahn has 18 of these 700hp 1950s-built* 2-10-2 beauties which it uses to haul 8-car trains of tourists up to the top of the Brocken mountain on a continuous 3% grade.

Another Digilux-2, 100ASA, shot from my visit to the Harz in October 2004.

*The one on the right is actually the prototype from 1930

John,

nice composition and appealingly subdued colours make this shot for me.
