Default New Baby for Michael

Michael Andretti's new ride for the Indy 500, unveiled at the Speedway today. Looks a lot like Danica's car, only the side pods are different-color Moto logo and background from hers.

Very interesting Allan.

Are most drivers going to be seeing the view in your shot number 3 this year?

Lovely shots Allan.
Now I know where that plastic pipe from the driver's helmet runs to- presumably siting the whiskey tank there keeps it at the correct temperature?

Allan -

Glad to have you posting again. Gorgeous shots. #1 is almost abstract from that angle with all the reflections. #2 seems to be something to fear seeing in the rear-view mirror. #3 is again almost abstract as well as amusing.

Thanks all for your comments.

I do love these damned cars more than anything...being around them, hearing them, watching them race. It's a damned fine way to spend a day, or several.

Thanks.

Allan

Ah, yes, Andy...that demands comment.

Michael Andretti (son of Mario Andretti) has the distinction of never winning the Indianapolis 500, though he has led the most laps of any non-winner in the race's ninety-one year history. I think it's somthing over three hundred laps in total. Amazing really that the other cars see just exactly this view of his car...

...until it counts!

Thanks.

Allan

Hey Pete!

Check out that little dorsal fin running from front wing to windscreen, right in the midline. What do you think that does to the aero? All the good cars are showing this little rib in that position this year.

Thanks.

Allan

Allan you are going to have to stop posting with this lens. Every time I see its expression I can almost hear the angels.

It's just where they stick both halves of the body together. All the polystyrene cement used to squeeze out of the joints on the model Spitfires I made as a kid, so it's good to see that even the pros have the same problem.

You can see a gluey thumbprint on the rear wing too

Absolutely nothing! BMW ran these on the CSL Batmobiles (two along the tops of the wings) some while back; I asked one of their engs what they did, he winked and shook his head- I asked if that meant he could not tell me, he winked and shook his head again!

If there were an effective add-on every aircraft in the skies would have them. Just the guys messi'n around with each other's heads I guess!

Great series from you, as usual. I'm off to F3 and Gt3'son Monday- watch this space.
