Default Magens Bay - St. Thomas, US VI

As it is now snowing here again, maybe this will warm up a few of us on the East Coast. 9:30 AM and the earliest I could hire a Wrangler and drive over the heights to get there and find a clean shot. Mid-December, '06. Hans Lollik Island in the distance through the haze.

I love the colours. The light and haze are very interesting -you can feel the heat.
It's good to see some water too - we're a bit short of it down in the Antipodes just at the moment!

Thank you for sharing

Needless to say, with the weather deteriorating again this weekend, the prospect of setting up shop for a week or two in the USVI is extremely appealing.

I think it was 1990 (?) the last time I was there.

Are you SURE that's not St. John's?

Thanks.

Allan

Cerrtainly is Magen's. I have a slide from 1968 from the same viewpoint ... not a single home on the opposite pennisula!

Time passes.

Nice....great range of colors. And a lens that I don't want to think about. Of course I like the texture...but I ain't bringing up that debate.

Glad you found it warming, given the ice and snow we have from Denver to Boston. When I was there, I didn't appreciate it because we'd had such a warm November and December. Really wouldn't mind spending a few days there now. As it was, I only had six hours. Bloody cruises...

Allan,

NO, that is not St. John! Look on a map!!!

Bruce,

Did you have a 28 in 1968?! 35 I'll wager...

Peter,

I'll post a shot of a hidden beach later where the locals go. Took me a while to find it. Tiny little bay with a large bar with no walls and several Dutch beers. That's where I could spend some time.

Dan,

Paul owns this lens too and can tell you how magical it is, either in color or B&W. One of my favorites of Paul's was a B&W shot in China of a boat with some people in a light mist. It's only a matter of time... :-) As for the textures... How did this look on your Sony Artisan in the office, BTW? Did I post it properly?
