Default The Flying B

I came upon this elderly Bentley quietly snoozing in a side street in Belgravia in London. I tried not to disturb it while I took its picture and it didn't seem to mind what I was doing - being a Bentley it was probably used to a bit of fuss and attention from time to time, and it slumbered gently on.

Thanks for looking and comments are welcomed.

D2, 1/250th @ f5.7, ISO 100.

Thanks, Stuart; I'm experimenting with sepia toning and I felt that it suited this venerable chariot.

Pete.

Lovely rich glow to this classic. The toning has worked very well indeed.

Really lovely composition, given an added edge by the reflections of the mansion blocks...nice rich toning too. Thanx for showing.
cheers:

Farnz,
That's the best "B" photo I've seen for a while (and I've seen a few!). Great reflections.

Pete

This is not faint praise.

This is an excellent shot, beautifully rendered.

Pete,

I try that shot every other week and have never pulled it off as well as you have with this image.

Looking again, have you got a higher than usual vantage point ? You seem to be more on top of the car. At just 6 ft, I don't seem to get over it quite the same.

Respect.

Rolo

What makes this shot for me is that the buildings reflected are not ultra-modern. This has a superb timeless quality. I'm not being funny when I say that it looks like the sort of shot I would approach the company with and offer them.

Regards,

Bill

To Everyone: thank you for the encouraging comments - they really do help!

Allan: I have some more, which I shall post.

Rolo: I leaned over the car as far as I could without touching it and ... "ker-chick". I'm short for my height, around 5'6", and don't carry a step ladder, although it would come in useful in large crowds.

Bill: This B was shot in the wild rather than tethered in a showroom - hence the Georgian mansions of Begravia in the reflection. I shall take your suggestion and approach the company to see if there's any interest.

Thanks to all again,
Pete.

What a fantastically captured "B" Pete. I really don't know how I didn't come across this image before.
