Default Calf Rope

I think this is from the 1999 Calgary Stampede. I shot it on RSX-100 slide film using the R8 and 400mm APO telyt. I added a little vignette in photoshop; it is not the lens

This is just awesome Robert. Horse and rider one unit , perfect color too.I love the flying dirt pushing home the fact there is movement.

Rob -

If anything, this is ever better than the other calf roping shot -- Talk about capturing exactly the right moment, with the horse sensing the rider's position and jamming on the brakes as it was trained to do.

Awesome rodeo shots Rob!

I like this one the best, perfect timing you caught everything in the middle of the action.

Rob,

Not too shabby, as are the other rodeo shots. This and your ice hockey shots really ARE your speciality. Haven't seen much lately though. What happened? Thanks for digging these out!

Rob

Nice shot! I can almost smell the atmosphere. This really is the 'decisive moment'.

Second all of the above comments, but also love the bokeh of all the viewers in the background.

I can't remember what aperture it was shot with, but probably f5.6 or f4. The leica lenses have a pleasing look to the out of focus areas, even in the big telephotos.
