Default Winter fishing

A brave soul this afternoon. Personally I was happy to get out of the car, take the snap and drive away :-)

Hmmm, I think the panoramic format works against the image in this case - it might have been better if the fisherman was to the left of the frame. On balance I think this shot works better.

Canon 5D, 50mm Summicron.

Still nice shot and without getting out of your car then not bad composition either!

Compositionj wise..the 2nd is better. I'd still crop till very slightly under the larger stone in the middle, to eliminate most of the black object in the foreground, which in my opinion, is not helping.
Very nicely seen and captured, Steve.

Steve,

good shots - well done.

I too think they'd be stronger yet with a crop from the bottom.

Lovely shots; I can feel the blast of the weather. Still, it was kind to lend him your tripod for leaning his rod against......

Thanks guys, you're probably right about the cropping.

He wasn't the only one on the beach either. Here's a shot looking south towards Blackpool.

Once again your natural ability with waves and water emerges Steve.

I like number two best...the perspective and framing.

Thanks for sharing.

IMHO, this is the strongest out of the three. A lovely timeless B&W image, if you ask me. Very well seen, composed and captured Steve.

Thanks again - the 3rd one has grown on me, though the downsizing has done strange things to the pebbles on the beach.

Three? And not number Two? With the way the breaking/crashing surf is caught perfectly?

I just don't see it...I'll take number two please!

Thanks.

Allan, I'd say the second one is my favourite, but the third one was originally just a throw away shot to illustrate the beach. The more I look at it the more I like it and wish I had an Epson 3800 to do it justice.

The b&w conversion was done using the Alien Skin Exposure Photoshop plugin by the way.

#3 for me, it reminds me why I hate Blackpool.

You have a Tri-X thing going on here.

Default AW: Winter fishing

Steve, these are fabulous fishing pictures. I like winter beach fishing (you only need the right clothing ) a lot, and you captured the atmosphere and what it is about. THX!

Best regards
Marcus
